A Magical Evening with Bruce Monroe

At Village Theatre, we believe that theater is about the experience—including community, storytelling, and a celebration of artistry. That’s why we host Backstage Parties, exclusive events that invite our donors to step behind the scenes and experience the magic of theater-making firsthand.

The evening was hosted by our Artistic Director, Adam Immerwahr, and featured a captivating conversation with longtime Village Theatre collaborator, Bruce Monroe—conductor, orchestrator, and music director.

Bruce Monroe, a man with short gray hair and facial hear wearing black glasses, sits next to Adam Immerwahr, a bald man with dark brown facial hair.Bruce shared stories from his remarkable career, including how he transitioned from percussionist to conductor, music director, and orchestrator. Bruce even gave a demonstration of stick conducting, offering a glimpse into the precision and passion that goes into leading a musical performance. Bruce’s anecdotes highlighted his evolution of musical theater at Village, including the intricate process of orchestrating for classics and new works.

Of course, no Backstage Party is complete without delicious refreshments. Guests enjoyed a meal generously donated by Lombardi’s Italian Restaurant and Bar, along with wine from William Grassie Wine Estates and beer from Scuttlebutt Brewing—a perfect pairing for an evening of artistic conversation and community.

These events are our way of saying thank you to donors who go above and beyond the cost of their tickets to support Village Theatre. Donors who contribute $250 or more annually are invited to attend one Backstage Party each season, with additional opportunities—like cabarets, tech visits, and our season reveal event—available as giving levels increase.

Each event promises a new perspective, a new story, and a deeper connection to the art we create.

Whether you’re a longtime supporter or new to Village Theatre, we invite you to make a gift and join us in celebrating the creativity, dedication, and behind-the-scenes brilliance that makes our productions unforgettable.
