Village Theatre Institute Program

Village Theatre Institute is an auditioned, school-year musical theater training program for students grade 5-age 20. This year-long program is divided into two semesters with a curriculum that includes, and extends beyond, performance-focused musical theater.

Summer Performance Intensive – NEW!

This summer, spend July sharing your love of theatre with the Issaquah community. In our one-of-a-kind Summer Performance Intensive, you’ll perfect a cabaret-style show and perform it multiple times throughout the month at a variety of venues.

Issaquah Summer Independent: Fiddler on the Roof

The Summer Independent program is the pinnacle experience for students and provides them with the resources to produce a full-scale show from start to finish. Students take on every aspect of production, from performing to design and management, and experience independent hands-on learning in a theatrical setting.

Everett SummerStock: Legally Blonde The Musical

SummerStock is the perfect answer for the passionate performer looking to stay happy and busy in the summer. The musical is fully directed and designed by theater professionals and features a live orchestra, professionally designed sets, costumes, lighting, and sound. The show is performed on our Village Theatre Mainstage.

Q: I need audition help! Where can I find resources or tips and tricks on auditioning?

A: KIDSTAGE has prepared an “Auditions Basic & Resources” page. Here you can find help on how to create a successful video audition, recommended songs and monologues for auditions with accompaniment tracks, and more.

Q: Can I audition for more than one program?

A: Yes! You can audition for all KIDSTAGE productions if you choose, as long as you fit the correct age range. Please make sure to double-check the location of each production program.

Please note for Summer 2024: due to overlapping schedules, students will NOT be cast in both Fiddler on the Roof (ISS) and Legally Blonde (EVT).

Q: Is there a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for KIDSTAGE productions?

A: No. 

Q: Are masks required for auditions?

A: No. Masks are optional.

Q: Do I need sheet music for my audition?

A: All KIDSTAGE auditions are modeled after industry standards, which includes having a live accompanist. Please bring sheet music in a binder for your accompanist, and make sure your sheet music includes the piano accompaniment line, not just the vocal line. If you don’t know where to find sheet music that includes an accompaniment line, we always recommend musicnotes.com. Or, email us at kidstageproductions@villagetheatre.org and we can help you out!

Q: I am unable to attend any in-person auditions. Can I still audition?

A: Yes! You can submit a filmed audition self-tape package of your song and monologue to KIDSTAGE. If you are unable to attend in-person auditions, contact the KIDSTAGE production office at auriu@villagetheatre.org (Everett) or mhinojos@villagetheare.org (Issaquah) for more information on how to submit your audition self-tape and the timeline in which you have to turn your materials in.

Q: How will I know if I receive a callback or casting offer?

A: Information about callback and casting offers will be posted to the KIDSTAGE Productions Callback and Casting Website. Refer to this site throughout the audition process for casting-related information.

Q: If I don’t get cast, are there other opportunities to participate in KIDSTAGE productions?

A: If you aren’t offered a cast role, do not worry! We have several opportunities to participate that are not onstage. There are positions available on the backstage crew and running lights or spotlight. Email the KIDSTAGE Production Office for more details on these opportunities!
