Q: Can I audition for more than one program?
A: Yes! You are able to audition for all shows and both Institute/Pathway programs if you so choose. Since all programs are planning to be in-person, please make sure to double-check the location of each program.
Q: I am already in Institute/Pathway. Do I need to audition again this summer?
A: Returning Institute students do not need to audition again. Pathway students need to audition ONLY if they want to be considered for a spot in Institute. Pathway students planning to return to Pathway for the 2021-2022 school year do not need to audition. Any current Institute or Pathway student is welcome to audition if they are looking for feedback on their audition or looking for more experience auditioning, regardless of whether they are auditioning for a show or new program.
Q: Will programming for the 2021/2022 school year be online or in-person?
A: In accordance with Phase Three reopening requirements announced by the Washington State Department of Health and Governor Inslee’s office, we are planning for most rehearsals and all performances to be in-person. Institute and Pathway are also planning for in-person programming in the fall.
Q: Do I need a letter of recommendation to audition for Institute or Pathway?
A: No, you do not need any letters of recommendation this year for the Institute and Pathway program.
Q: How professional should my audition video be?
A: We completely understand that everyone is stuck at home, so do your best to make your audition video presentable. You should treat this as an in-person audition. Please record your video in a clear space as best as possible, with minimal distracting objects in the background, and do your best to be brightly lit that allows us to see your face clearly. Filming from the waist up is recommended. Do your best – we understand that everyone has to make do with the space/recording devices they have available.
You will not be judged for self-start/stops on your videos or the quality of your videos. If we are unable to hear or see you properly, we may ask you to send in another video, so we recommend you review your video before submitting.
Q: Does my audition song require an accompaniment/piano track?
A: No, you are not required to have an accompaniment track for the song part of your audition; however, we highly recommend it. If you need help recording an accompaniment track, please email KIDSTAGEproductions@villagetheatre.org for the contact info of KIDSTAGE instructors who are willing to offer track recordings. If you are asking for an audition track, please make sure you have your sheet music prepared just as if you were auditioning in person.
