Village Theatre Presents the Brand-New, Feel-Good Buddy Comedy
We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up: The Hymon and Parfunkel Musical

ISSAQUAH MAY 19–JUN 21, 2026 | EVERETT JUN 27–JUL 19, 2026

Book, Music, and Lyrics by Gregg Hammer and Louis Pardo
Developed with and Directed by Scott Weinstein

Village Theatre concludes their 2025-2026 season with We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up: The Hymon and Parfunkel Musical, a new musical comedy featuring the most famous folk duo who never existed: Saul Hymon and Bart Parfunkel. Writers Gregg Hammer and Louis Pardo play the titular roles — as well as every other role and every instrument (including the spoons!) — in this brand-new, feel-good buddy show that’s chock-full of the absolute best songs from a completely fictional folk catalogue.

Developed by Hammer and Pardo in partnership with director Scott Weinstein, We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up first appeared on Village’s stage in the 2024 Festival of New Musicals, then made its world premiere in 2025 at The Phoenix Theatre Company. The production is on stage in Issaquah May 19–June 21, 2026, and in Everett June 27–July 19, 2026. Tickets and show information are at VillageTheatre.org/BreakUp.

While the show is a parody that pokes fun at the jukebox musical, it also tells a heartfelt, hilarious story about the joys and perils of friendship. Hammer and Pardo should know, as they have been real-life friends for more than 20 years:

“The best friendships—the most needed friendships—aren’t always the…easiest friendships.”

These two themes are woven together by threads of nostalgia and novelty. “Despite the similarity in name to a certain iconic folk duo, this show features a fully original score that’s catchy, hilarious, and steeped in the golden age of singer-songwriters, like that unnamed duo plus Bob Dylan, Carole King, James Taylor, and Joni Mitchell,” said director Weinstein.

“Gregg and Lou’s score captures one of my favorite feelings: that very first listen, when a new record starts and everything still feels undiscovered.”

Shortly after being featured in Village’s 2024 Festival, We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up received its world premiere production in Phoenix. “So often, a new musical’s development continues past its opening production,” said Village Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr. “I’m thrilled to be able to host Gregg, Louis, and Scott as they have continued to grow this hilarious new show in readiness for its Village premiere. With two brilliantly funny and incredibly tuneful performers playing all the roles and all the instruments,

“We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up promises to be a bravura, tour-de-force performance that is not to be missed.”

We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up: The Hymon and Parfunkel Musical features book, music and lyrics by Gregg Hammer and Louis Pardo, who also perform as Saul Hymon and Bart Parfunkel respectively, along with Christopher Clark (u/s Saul) and Brandon Reil (u/s Bart).

The creative team includes Director Scott Weinstein, Scenic Designer Paige Hathaway, Costume Designer Esther Garcia, Lighting Designer Jennifer Fok, Sound Designer Robertson Witmer, Projection Designer Ahren Buhmann, Stage Manager Miranda Mikolaizik, Music Supervisor Tim Symons, Associate Director Lamar Legend, and Associate Lighting Designer Casey Price.

Single tickets can be purchased now at VillageTheatre.org/BreakUp, by phone at (425) 392-2202, or through Village Theatre’s box office in-person in Issaquah (303 Front Street N) or Everett (2710 Wetmore Avenue).
