Why Fiscal Year-End Matters at Village Theatre

Planning Ahead: The Impact of Giving

As August 31 approaches, Village Theatre enters the final stretch of its fiscal year—a moment that holds particular significance not just for the organization, but for our patrons, students, and community.

Our programming is active and visible throughout the year—on our Mainstage, in our classrooms, and in the lives of the young people and families who find a sense of belonging here. With 12 months of consistent productions, classes, and artistic experiences, we mark the end of our year with a final reflection on what our supporters have made possible.

A Season Beyond the Stage

While audiences often experience Village Theatre through its productions, our scope of work extends far beyond what is seen under the lights.

Each year, Village Theatre:
– Produces five professional Mainstage productions in Issaquah and Everett
– Provides robust youth education programs that serve students across the region
– Creates pathways for new musicals to grow and expand the musical theatre canon
– Engages artists, students, and patrons in shared experiences that strengthen community connection

As we approach the end of our year, these efforts represent thousands of touchpoints—performances attended, classes taught, and moments of artistic discovery that collectively shape the organization’s impact.

The Power of a Shared Opportunity

This year, the weeks leading up to August 31 carry an added layer of significance. A matching fund is in place, meaning that all gifts received before the close of the fiscal year will be matched dollar for dollar.

Matching opportunities like this are powerful—not only because they accelerate progress, but because they reflect a shared belief in Village Theatre’s future. They indicate that leadership supporters recognize both the strength of the organization today and the promise of what lies ahead. For the broader community, this creates a moment where participation carries amplified impact, reinforcing the idea that sustaining the arts is a collective effort.

Fiscal year-end giving plays a critical role in how Village Theatre plans for the seasons ahead. Support received before August 31 helps to ensure stability of the organization while sustaining our programming into our 2026-2027 season. Village strives to bring our audiences and participants quality programming and donations allow us to continue to provide access for our entire community.

Donations ensure that Village Theatre can continue saying “yes”—to creative risks, to new voices, and to the kind of artistic experiences that leave a lasting impression on audiences.

A Broader View of Impact

Village Theatre’s influence extends well beyond individual performances.

Our significance and impact can be seen in:
– A student stepping on stage for the first time
– A family attending shows together year after year, building lifelong connections to the arts
– An artist making their debut with the support of veteran professionals to guide them
– A production that sparks conversation and inspiration long after the final curtain
– A patron that values storytelling as a way to understand and connect with others

Philanthropic support at this stage of the year helps ensure all these moments continue—not just in the next season, but for years to come.

As the fiscal year draws to a close, our focus is both reflective and forward-looking. It is a time to consider what has been made possible—and what can still be achieved with the community’s partnership.

For those who have been considering how to support Village Theatre, the current matching opportunity offers a particularly meaningful way to do so, effectively doubling the impact of any contribution made before August 31.

Moments like this are less about urgency and more about possibility—about aligning values with an organization that continues to create, educate, and serve. And ultimately, about ensuring that Village Theatre remains a vibrant part of this community for generations to come.
