SummerStock provides an opportunity for over 40 young people, ages 10–18, to perform on the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre (Issaquah) or Everett Performing Arts Center stage with the support of Village Theatre professionals. SummerStock is the perfect answer for the passionate performer looking to stay happy and very busy in the summer. The musical is fully directed and designed by theatre professionals and features a live orchestra, beautiful sets, costumes, lighting, and sound. SummerStock also provides a number of non-acting opportunities for students through the Technical Theatre Program (TTP) in Orchestra Performance, Direction, Design, and Management.
Technical Theatre Program
Our Technical Theatre Program (TTP) provides hands-on experimental learning, mentored by professionals, in a wide variety of theatre disciplines. TTP opportunities allow students to learn theatre industry vocational skills such as performance, direction, design, and management.
KIDSTAGE productions include opportunities for student musicians. KIDSTAGE orchestras contain a combination of student and professional musicians. This program allows students to build relationships and learn from professional musicians who work in local orchestras and at theaters across the Seattle area.
Village Theatre believes that experiential learning in theatre arts is a powerful tool for building essential life and career skills including critical thinking, concentration, collaboration, discipline, communication, and creativity. We strive to ensure that all young people, regardless of financial circumstances, are able to participate in these programs.
The process to apply for financial assistance is easy and non-invasive. Families need only apply once per year, for all programs. Assistance is need-based and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Work exchange is an additional need-based financial aid option where students work a set number of hours in an assigned position in exchange for a portion of show, camp, or class tuition. It is not a grant (you must work to earn it), and it is not a loan (you don’t have to repay it). Work exchange positions include Teaching Assistants (TAs), Administrative Assistants, and more.
Any student (8th grade and up) currently enrolled or planning to enroll in KIDSTAGE programming may apply for work exchange. To apply, please fill out the Work Exchange Application Form.
