KIDSTAGE Originals: Writers

The due date for writing team 2020–2021 applications has passed. Please check back in Fall 2021 for more information regarding the 2021–2022 application cycle.

Make theatre magic! Join the writing/composing team of a brand-new original musical that you help create, from the initial concept to staged reading. The 2020–2021 KIDSTAGE Originals program consists of four teams of up to six writers each, culminating in a KIDSTAGE Originals Festival.

Interested and committed writers, composers, and lyricists in grade 9–age 20 were invited to apply in October 2020.

  • Applications, including writing samples based on prompts, were due Monday, October 12
  • Interviews were held Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16

Writing sessions take place October 2020 through February 2021. Actors joined the process in mid-February for staged reading performances at the end of March 2021.

Fall meetings take place online. We will only meet in person if we deem it can be done safely, following all state and national guidelines. Even if we are able to gather, a virtual option will continue be available for anyone who is not comfortable attending in person.
