2020–2021 Ensemble in both Issaquah and Everett is canceled due to COVID-19.
The Ensemble production is a school year production program for our younger and newer students. Directed, designed, and produced by adult theatre professionals, the intensive rehearsal process includes learning the fundamentals of performance, such as script analysis, character development, and creation, learning choreography, staging, and vocals, and experiencing each phase of the production process through technical rehearsals and performances. The emphasis is on the performer.
Technical Theatre Program
Our Technical Theatre Program (TTP) provides hands-on experimental learning, mentored by professionals, in a wide variety of theatre disciplines. TTP opportunities allow students to learn theatre industry vocational skills such as performance, direction, design, and management.
KIDSTAGE productions include opportunities for student musicians. KIDSTAGE orchestras contain a combination of student and professional musicians. This program allows students to build relationships and learn from professional musicians who work in local orchestras and at theaters across the Seattle area.
Village Theatre believes that experiential learning in theatre arts is a powerful tool for building essential life and career skills including critical thinking, concentration, collaboration, discipline, communication, and creativity. We strive to ensure that all young people, regardless of financial circumstances, are able to participate in these programs.
KIDSTAGE offers two types of financial assistance for productions: scholarships and work exchange.
The process for applying is easy and non-invasive. Families need only apply for financial assistance once per year, for all programs. Scholarships are need-based and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Work exchange is a need-based financial aid award. Work exchange students work a set number of hours in an assigned position in exchange for a portion of show, camp, or class tuition. It is not a grant (you must work to earn it), and it is not a loan (you don’t have to repay it). Work exchange positions include Teaching Assistants (TAs), Administrative Assistants, and more.
Any student (8th grade and up) currently enrolled or planning to enroll in KIDSTAGE programming may apply for work exchange. To apply, please fill out the Work Exchange Application Form.
