Summer Camp FAQs

Currently, students age 12+ must be vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test each week in order to attend KIDSTAGE classes.

Beginning April 1, 2022 all students age 5+ must be vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test each week in order to attend KIDSTAGE classes.

In order for your student to be on site, we require the following:

• A COVID- 19 Health Attestation Form. This form is valid for all 2021 programs, and only needs to be completed once per student, prior to the first class day.
• Currently, students age 12+ must be vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test each week in order to attend KIDSTAGE classes.

• Students must wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing. Per recent CDC recommendations, we encourage students to wear KN95, N95 or KF94 masks to class.
• A Hold Harmless Form.
  • If you registered online, you already completed the Hold Harmless as part of the online registration process.
  • If you did not register online, and have not done so already, please submit this form before arriving on site.

Upon arriving at your class location, we ask that an adult accompany their student to the check-in area. Please have all in your party wear masks for check-in each day. We ask families to confirm each day at check-in that the student does not have any symptoms of COVID-19, and staff will take the student’s temperature. Students will be given a “student supply bag” with a nametag and materials for the day, then will be directed by their instructor to the “classroom” space. Parents/guardians and siblings may not enter the “classroom” space, nor remain on the campus during camp (with the exception of public, outdoor spaces away from the class taking place). Please maintain social distancing while waiting.

We ask that a parent/guardian wait outdoors at the place of check-in, socially distanced, and that all people in their party wear masks, until their student is released. Students will return their “supply bag” (including nametag and materials) to KIDSTAGE staff at the end of each class day.

Please e-mail us at kidstage@villagetheatre.org for absences or late arrivals. E-mail is the best way to let us know. It is important that students try to attend class each day. There will be no makeup sessions for absences. As agreed in the Health Attestation, please do not send your student to class if they are sick, running a fever, or have any other COVID-19 symptoms.

Yes, masks are required to be worn by ALL while on site, including students, staff, and any families dropping-off/picking-up students. It is important that students wear masks properly (fully covering nose and mouth and fitting snugly against sides of face), as many class activities are dependent on this policy.

Social distancing will be required for ALL while on site. Class capacities are based on 6-foot social distancing in each class space, and we will encourage 6-foot distancing whenever possible, including outdoors. Movement or dance that does not involve a projected voice may use 3-foot social distancing.

All class enrollment capacities have been based on 6-foot social distancing in each “classroom” space. There will be 1-2 instructors and 1-2 KIDSTAGE staff members per each location. Please note that our “classroom” spaces may be used by multiple groups of classes in the same day, but will be adequately sanitized and have full air exchange before the second group comes in.

Other Village Theatre and KIDSTAGE personnel may be present in the buildings where classes take place, however, they will not be in the class spaces.

In accordance with recommendations for United States choral directors by the CDC and state guidelines, we have made sure that all Musical Theatre “classroom” spaces have good access to air circulation via being outside, open windows/doors, frequent air exchange of the HVAC system, or HEPA filter air purifiers. Any vocal performance in a projected voice (singing/rapping/speaking/etc.) is permitted with 6-foot social distancing for all, with all performers facing the same direction, and wearing masks.

There may be opportunities for students going into 3^rd grade and older to practice self-recording. Those recordings may happen one-on-one with the music instructor in a separate space (with additional KIDSTAGE staff supervision). The recordings then will be edited together so that students may rehearse and perform to their own voices, but not actually sing together during the rehearsal and performance.

Students may use the restroom one-at-a-time during class. (We strongly encourage students use the restroom before class starts!) Buildings, including restrooms, will NOT be open to families/visitors. There may be more than one class using the same bathroom facilities, even though their class is in a separate space. KIDSTAGE expects all students to be independent, self-sufficient bathroom users.

Let us know before classes start! E-mail kidstage@villagetheatre.org. We can properly prepare our instructors and space, if we are given adequate notice. We will do our absolute best to accommodate all access needs. We want to be sure your student feels comfortable, welcome, and safe in our space!

Students should wear a well-fitted mask, comfortable clothing for movement, and closed-toe tennis shoes. Skirts/dresses should have shorts underneath. Please dress in layers as we will keep windows/doors open for fresh airflow as much as possible.

On the last day of class, KIDSTAGE will record a video of the final demonstration and will provide the recording electronically to families as soon as it has been edited/compiled–which usually takes a couple of business days after class has ended. Unfortunately, we will NOT be having a live, final performance with family audience members in our facilities.

First day drop-off will be at the Wetmore Plaza. From there, students will be directed to go to their class location for check-in (each class will have its own check-in table – see image.) There are drop-off zones around the buildings off Wetmore Ave. and California Ave. There is 90min. street parking (and all-day pay parking garages) available around all our buildings. Please allow ~15min. for drop-off/parking and check-in. Only students and staff are allowed in the buildings. End-of-class pick-up will also happen in the Wetmore Plaza.
