6 months to opening: Each Village Theatre production begins months before an audience takes their seat. Designers (lights, costumes, sets, props, sound) meet with the director to decide everything from the color of the floor, the style of the lights, the cut of a dress, to the style of the sound of a doorbell to be sure what you see on stage will transport you to the world of the play.
3 months to opening: Our tech studios filled with our amazing artisans are hard at work to build, paint, sew, and create every piece that is featured on the stage. It takes hundreds of hours for our teams to create the worlds that you see on the stage.
4 1/2 weeks to opening: Actors begin rehearsal in the Francis J. Gaudette Rehearsal Hall and begin to shape the show with daily rehearsals. Using a rehearsal room that is about the same size as the stage allows our director and choreographer to shape the show with the performers before they move to the stage.
9 days to opening: Everyone comes together for “Tech Week”. Hours are increased for rehearsal and every element of the show is brought to the stage. Every movement of a set piece, light, or performer is meticulously worked through, problem solved and perfected. The week ends with final dress rehearsals and previews performances in the few days before opening night where adjustments can still be made.
Opening Night—Closing Night: Audiences are welcomed to the theatre to be part of the story. After all of the months of work and planning, the final piece of the puzzle is brought into the theatre; a live audience, a finished product, and a chance to share the story in Issaquah and Everett.
- Village Theatre sets each have their own stage floor that allows the set pieces to move and for the production to move to Everett with the same layout.
- Custom wigs are created by Village Theatre’s wig master for all productions.
- Whether a brand new musical or a classic, all shows at Village Theatre are created and produced by our teams for our audiences.
Whether you have been with us from the start or you are new to Village Theatre, your engagement and gifts matter and allow us to bring the magic of theatre to the stage, the page, and the classroom.
