Human Resources Manager

Position Overview
The Human Resources Manager works to perform all day-to-day operations for defined areas within Village Theatre in the following functional areas: employee relations, employee/leadership development, organizational development, ADP System, compensation and benefits, performance management, and regulatory compliance. The person will assist with developing, implementing and administering HR programs, policies, practices and processes to support Village Theatre HR’s initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources & Employee Relations

  • Interpret, analyze, and apply human resources policies and procedures and provide recommendations on potential individual and business impacts.
  • Assists leadership with performance management, recognition and discipline.
  • Handle employee relations counseling, including conducting investigations and recommending appropriate corrective action as needed in a Union and non-union environment.
  • Investigate, resolve and communicate employee questions, concerns, and issues to management.
  • Support employees and supervisors through L&I claims process, including coordinating appropriate documentation, developing light duty job descriptions, and communicating and facilitating the employee’s return to work.
  • Identify, recommend and develop new approaches, policies and procedures that improve the efficiency within the department and services performed
  • Champion Village Theatre’s diversity and inclusion
  • Conduct new hire orientations and ensure appropriate forms are completed to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. Maintain and update employee personnel files.
  • Maintain ADP Human Resources System. Process new hire packets, status changes, benefit enrollments and other recordkeeping duties.
  • Process termination and participate in unemployment hearings and exit interviews
  • Update employee communication materials as needed, including the employee handbook, benefits guide, and other policy and procedure manuals.
  • Update existing job descriptions and/or create new job descriptions as needed.
  • Plan and lead All-Staff meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Safety and Workers’ Compensation

  • Ensure compliance with all Safety & all OSHA, Workers Compensation rules and regulations, including correct and timely completion of OSHA documents, OSHA reporting and posting, and file maintenance. Receive and process all incident reports. Follow up with managers as necessary to ensure completion of safety documentation and corrective actions.
  • Act as Village Theatre’s safety representative. Assist and participate in Safety Committees. Manage and coordinates site specific and company processes and procedures. Maintain all safety documentation.
  • Manage updates and maintain Village Theatre’s Accident Prevention Plan.


  • Support the development, review and implementation of Village Theatre’s benefits program.
  • Perform benefits administration to include eligibility/claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees. Benefit programs include: medical and dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance and the employee assistance program, 403B, ALFAC.
  • Act as primary contact for outside benefits consultant to address/resolve issues
  • Develop human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommend courses of actions.
  • Compile HR Metrics reporting, and analysis as needed
  • Oversee maintenance of HR/SAP employee records


  • Develop and maintain Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity program; file EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports, and log to conform to EEO regulations
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the Human Resources function (FMLA, ERISA, Wage & Hour, ACA, AAP, Sick leave, Paid Family and Medical Leave, workers compensation, unemployment insurance, etc.).
  • Monitor exposure of Village Theatre and report and recommend resolution to Director of Finance.
  • Prepare and/or review any information requested or required for compliance.

Work Experience:

  • 3 yrs. or more of experience as an HR Generalist/Manager
  • Extensive working knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Ability to develop and monitor HR policy, procedure, budgets and protocols
  • Ability to understand and monitor union agreements and benefits
  • Fluent computer skills including Microsoft Office with advanced Excel capabilities and ADP HRIS.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills coupled with conflict resolution acumen
  • Highly detail oriented with creative problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, initiated and driven
  • Exhibits a caring and compassionate attitude—recognizes role as advocate


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and knowledge
  • PHR or SPHR preferred

Physical Ability:

2nd Lead Audience Service Representative - Issaquah

Reports to Box Office Manager

Position Overview:
Provide customer service and ticket fulfillment to Village Theatre’s customers.

(Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

  • Handles large volume of in-bounds sales, exchanges and inquires with the highest level of courtesy and professionalism.
  • Sells new and renewing subscriptions, single tickets, gift certificates, and memberships.
  • Provides helpful information for performances, pricing options, parking, directions, local restaurants and seating for patrons with disabilities.
  • Assists with patron relations and resolve complex patron inquiries and complaints by phone.
  • Maintains familiarity with subscription and single ticket marketing initiatives, patron loyalty program, donor benefits, Everett rental events, Village Theatre events and website.
  • Provides concierge services before performances and during intermissions to warmly greet and engage patrons and get them excited about our productions, as well as provide normal Box Office services.
  • Covers Box Office duties at First Stage performances, both for KIDSTAGE and Village Original productions.
  • Attends all Main Stage productions preferably during the Friends and Family preview or opening week.
  • Guides patrons though their online interactions.
  • Assists with the closing procedures including making sure all cash, checks, and credit card information balance and that all errors from the day have been located and addressed before closing reports are received by Director of Finance.
  • Handles managerial duties if 1st Lead and Assistant Manager are out of the office or as needed.
  • Keeps up a professional appearance in dress and attitude and have a general appreciation for and understanding of live theatre.

  • Good communication skills with a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality
  • Must be prompt, reliable, and detail oriented.
  • Hourly with an average of 30 hours a week.
  • Flexibility in work times is a must, including day, nights and weekends.

Scope and Character of Supervisory Responsibilities:
Run closing procedures and supervise shifts as needed.

Audience Services Representative - Everett
Reports to: Everett Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager

Job Summary: Village Theatre is looking for a friendly, reliable, detail-oriented person to work in the Everett Box Office. Job is part time up to 20hrs/week. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed. EEO


Sell tickets and provide accurate records of sales and deposits while maintaining a positive image of Village Theatre. Work as a team within the Box Office and within the entire organization to provide superior service for Village Theatre patrons and to support each department.


  • Provide excellent customer service and accurate information to all patrons and visitors in a friendly manner.
  • Handle customer complaints or refer them to appropriate personnel.
  • Understand and operate Theatre Manager ticketing software to sell tickets, make exchanges, and access and update customer information.
  • Take and process single and season ticket orders for all Village Theatre events, as well as rental events at the Everett Performing Arts Center, and record the desired marketing and mailing information.
  • Accurately handle purchases and redemptions of gift certificates.
  • Keep complete and accurate hard copies of season ticket information.
  • Assist the Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager in the preparation and mailing of season tickets.
  • During subscription season, file subscription forms daily and ensure that all filed forms have been processed.
  • Count and balance checks, cash, and credit cards at the close of each day. Run End of Day reports.
  • Ensure that till(s) have been counted and initialed as counted at the close of each business day.
  • Keep the Box Office secure at all times and allow only authorized personnel in the Box Office.
  • Prepare House Manager Report immediately following the start of each performance.
  • Perform other duties as required by Box Office Manager, Assistant Box Office Manager, or General Manager.

KIDSTAGE Internship programs support the development of outstanding theatre professionals by providing a structured program of training, coursework, and extensive progressive in-class and hands-on learning experiences. Designed to prepare students for careers in theatre arts, internships translate the KIDSTAGE philosophy of “Skills for Theatre … Skills for Life” into classroom technique.

Internship programs are available in Issaquah and Everett Washington and include:
