Cabaret

CABARET

Book by Joe Masteroff • Based on the play by John Van Druten and
Stories by Christopher Isherwood
Music by John Kander • Lyrics by Fred Ebb

Leave Your Troubles at the Door...

1931 Berlin—the capital of divine decadence, liberal thought, and cultural transformation while the shadow of the Nazis threatens to engulf all of Europe. It is the beginning of the end. Welcome to Cabaret, the iconic musical which revolves around the seedy happenings of the Kit Kat Klub and its regulars. With music and lyrics by the award-winning team behind Chicago, this sizzling musical reminds us that “life is a cabaret, old chum, and you’ll love this Cabaret.”

"'What Would You Do?'…starts bursting with anger and builds to a finish of shattering regret. It is the single finest musical theatre performance I have seen in Seattle in years" Talkin Broadway

"The small band plays Kander and Ebb’s stirring songs with gusto. When the platform they’re on moves from behind the curtain to center stage, they’re deservedly in the spotlight." Seattle PI

"A sparkling production for older teens and adults" Parent Map

"Billie Wildrick is in fine form as Sally Bowles, effectively capturing her vibrant impetuousness and mercurial mood swings." Daily Record News

"A vibrant, glitzy production that entertains from opening curtain to final ovation" Huff Post: Entertainment

"A full-throttle onstage jazz band, and accomplished singer-actors deliver the superb score by John Kander and Fred Ebb with skill and flair" The Seattle Times

"…this is undeniably a well-crafted show, high in energy and crackling with strong performances on the most beautifully crafted set of the season." Bellevue Reporter

"The opening set with its detritus, destruction, just plain mess is powerful and sets a mood." Arts Stage - Seattle Rage

"The leads, especially Wildrick and Allgood, are terrific." Seattle Gay News

"I have to mention the gloriousness of Jason Collins as the club's Emcee. From the moment he sets foot on stage he owns it and his skulking in and out of scenes and numbers gave him an almost otherworldly feel." Broadway World

"Simply put, 'Cabaret' is one of the best productions I've ever seen at Village Theatre" Issaquah Press

"[Billie Wildrick is] a buxom blonde who can exude the va-va-voom glamour of bygone silver-screen stars — and sing like a nightingale, too." The Seattle Times

"Matthew Smucker's decoratively cluttered set is ingenious and eye-filling, and the pit band, under Tim Symons' direction, is the most stirring I've heard at Village Theatre." Seattle Weekly
