3 SHOW SEASON
  • Creating Art at Village Theatre

Musical theatre does so much more than tell a story. A truly great musical creates a world where you can fall in love, dance the night away, surrender to laughter, and experience moments of powerful excitement. It can take your breath away. How do we know this? Because we do it every day.

One of Village Theatre’s most unique qualities is that every one of our shows is custom designed from the ground up. Each production seen on Village Theatre’s stage is the result of hours of meetings, planning, and building to create a completely customized show that can’t be experienced anywhere else in the world.

Our team of master craftsmen includes some of the best painters, carpenters, seamstresses, and engineers in the region. To get a show on stage, they work tirelessly with the director as well as designers for costumes, scenery, lighting, and sound to create a cohesive and quality production for our audiences.

Add to this the talents of some of the regions best triple-threat singer/dancer/actors and what you are left with is an experience unlike any other.

  • About the Shows

    The 39 Steps
    March 3 — 26, 2017

    Adapted by Patrick Barlow

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat features over 150 zany characters played by a talented four-person cast and is packed with nonstop laughs, complete with an on-stage plane crash, missing fingers, and, of course, some good old-fashioned romance. This unforgettable play is pure entertainment, with a riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft.

    A Proper Place
    April 28 — May 21, 2017

Book by Leslie Becker and Curtis Rhodes
    Music by Curtis Rhodes

    Lyrics by Leslie Becker
    Additional Lyrics by Curtis Rhodes

Downton Abbey meets Gilligan’s Island in this hysterical new musical based on J.M. Barrie’s play, The Admirable Crichton. It’s 1902, and Lord Loam’s family outing has gone horribly awry, landing the family on a deserted island. Stranded alone, their trusty system of societal hierarchy begins to slip away as their only hope for survival turns out to be allowing the lowly butler to take the lead. With a score of lively and tuneful music, this romantic comedy will sweep you away in an adventure of family drama and forbidden love.

    Dreamgirls
    July 7 — 30, 2017

Book and Lyrics by Tom Eyen
    Music by Henry Krieger

Original Broadway Production Directed and Choreographed by Michael Bennett
    Orchestrations by Harold Wheeler
Produced on Broadway by Michael Bennett, Robert Avian, Geffen Records, and The Shubert Organization

This powerhouse musical was a Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit on Broadway that became a Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning film sensation! Dreamgirls celebrates the advent of R&B in the 1960s with a Motown-inspired score, dynamic performances, and a moving look behind-the-scenes of the entertainment business. Experience all the onstage joy and backstage drama as an up-and-coming girl group learns hard lessons about love, trust, and what it takes to get to the top.
