  • About the Shows

    Into the Woods

    October 27 – November 19, 2017 (Everett)
    September 14 - October 22, 2017 (Issaquah)

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
    Book by James Lapine

Venture into this Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning musical where your favorite storybook characters collide and “happily ever after” is just the beginning. You might think you know the stories of Little Red, Cinderella, Jack, and Rapunzel, but when the Baker and his wife learn they have been cursed by a witch, their quest to break the spell may have devastating results. Featuring one of Sondheim’s most beloved scores of music, Into the Woods will take you down a winding path where you’ll want to be careful what you wish for.

    Village Theatre's production of

    Disney's Newsies

    The Musical

    January 5 – 28, 2018 (Everett)
    November 9 - December 31, 2017 (Issaquah)

    Music by Alan Menken
    Lyrics by Jack Feldman
    Book by Harvey Fierstein
Based on the Disney Film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White

"Seize the Day" with the paperboys of New York as they become the newspaper headlines. Based on the true events of the Newsboys Strike of 1899, this cult Disney movie-musical favorite takes life on stage as a crew of underdog newsies become unlikely heroes when they stand up for what’s right. The Tony Award-winning and Grammy-nominated musical is full of classic Disney magic and a high-energy explosion of song, dance, and theatricality.

    The Gin Game

    March 2-25, 2018 (Everett)
    January 18 - February 25, 2018 (Issaquah)

    By D.L. Coburn

Snappy dialogue and quick wit crackle in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play that was called, “the closest thing the theatre offers to a duel at 10 paces” by The New York Times. On a lonely visitor's day at a home for the aged, Weller teaches Fonsia to play Gin Rummy. But as the two get to know each other, and Fonsia goes on an instant winning streak, the tension starts to build within their new friendship. A collaboration between local Seattle legends Jeff Steitzer (director), Kurt Beattie (Weller), and Marianne Owen (Fonsia), this tragic-comedy is full of humor, spirit, and more than a touch of warfare.

    April 27 - May 20, 2018 (Everett)
    March 15 - April 22, 2018 (Issaquah)

    Book by Sarah Hammond
Music and Lyrics by Adam Gwon

On a mountaintop high over ancient Greece, three sisters – goddesses known as the Greek Fates – are responsible for spinning, measuring, and snipping the String of Life. After falling out of favor with Zeus, they find themselves stuck in a drab modern skyscraper, left to live and work among world-weary office workers and the security guards who watch over the building. But when the eldest sister falls in love with a mortal, her destiny gets all tangled up in this brand-new musical fable about fate and the fragile fabric of the universe.

    The Broadway Musical

    July 6 - 29, 2018 (Everett)
    May 10 - July 1, 2018 (Issaquah)

Book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan
    Music by Marc Shaiman
Lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman
Based on the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Waters

Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto national TV, dethrone the reigning teen queen, win the affections of the local heartthrob, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her 'do! The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning Best Musical teaches us to look past skin color and size in the fight for equal rights. Complete with favorite songs like, "You Can't Stop the Beat," "Welcome to the 60's," and "Without Love," Hairspray gives new meaning to BIG entertainment.
