As of March 1, 2006, we no longer accept unsolicited manuscripts. (We do not have the resources to address the volume of submissions received, nor can we continue to accept the risks and other challenges associated with addressing unsolicited submissions.)
We only accept submissions from literary agents or via professional recommendation from a colleague already known to us. If you do not have an agent, you can send a letter of introduction with a synopsis of the play, a CD or cassette demo recording with a numbered track list, a character list specifying age, gender, and ethnicity, and a scene breakdown specifying locations. If the material suggests a potential fit with our program, we will contact you with a request for the complete script. Please note that due to volume, we cannot respond to all inquiries. Our focus is musical theatre pieces only. Please do not submit non-musical plays.
We accept scripts throughout the year. Most authors are notified of the status of their submissions within six to nine months of receipt. Please do not call our office as we are not equipped to handle such inquiries.
Thank you for your interest in Village Theatre.
