TAP into Your Future!
The Village Theatre Teen Access Program (TAP) is born out of Village Theatre's mission to train young people in theatre skills for career opportunities and enriched lives, to develop a broad-based appreciation for live theatre and to promote positive values through art. The KIDSTAGE Mission further defines the philosophy behind TAP as it is to provide opportunities through theatre arts to teach creativity, responsibility, encourage teamwork and personal integrity and further self-esteem.
TAP students receive hands-on experiential learning alongside professionals in theatre. Students who qualify will receive full scholarships to cover the tuition and costs for these and in some situations, TAP students will provide a necessary function to a production or KIDSTAGE class and therefore qualify for either work exchange (download a PDF of the current KIDSTAGE work exchange guidelines) or a stipend to offset expenses.
Participants must apply and interview with a KIDSTAGE Manager.
Each student's experience is unique and the program is customized for their emerging skills, talents and interests.

Teen Access to Training with Professionals in Technical Theatre and Design
The Goal of the TAP into Production program is to train young people in a professional theatre environment providing preparation for future education and careers in technical theatre and design (Lights, Sets, Costumes, Props and Sound, and Stage Management). Additionally the program will develop life skills in the areas of problems solving, communication, collaboration and navigation in a real world vocational environment. Opportunities are offered year round in each of our KIDSTAGE production programs. Contact the KIDSTAGE Programs Manager to learn more or set up an interview.
KIDSTAGE SummerStock
KIDSTAGE SummerStock provides students ages 14-20 hands on experience and training in specific technical theatre and design functions alongside a professional in the field. (Stage Management, Light Design and operation, Sound Design and operation, Set Design, construction and rigging, Prop Design and building, Costume Design and build.) Theatre Professionals are hired to create a range of educational opportunities in the process of preparing for a production and then let students take the reigns during the two-week run of a full scale musical. The program is offered at various levels in both Everett and Issaquah.
There is no charge for this program, but students must apply.
KIDSTAGE Summer Independent Production
The KIDSTAGE Summer Independent Production is the pinnacle of the KIDSTAGE program. The Summer Independent Production is produced, designed and directed entirely by young artists under 20. The director, music director, choreographer, stage manager, producer, light, sound, costume and set designers are all students. Professional mentorship is provided by Village Theatre artists and staff to help ensure high artistic and educational standards. Typically, Independent Production students are KIDSTAGE participants first and have been progressively challenged in professionally guided technical or design roles in the other KIDSTAGE productions. They are selected through an application and interview process and carefully supported through the production experience by the education staff.
Each participant receives a stipend to offset the expenses of participation.
Ensemble, TeenSelect and Company Originals Productions
These school year shows also provide opportunities for students in Direction, Music Direction, Choreography, Set Design, Costume Design, Properties Management, Stage Management, Light and Sound design and operation.
