Lead House Manager, Issaquah

Position Overview:

The Lead House Manager position will manage all logistics of front-of-house staffing, including hiring, scheduling, and managing House Managers, Lobby Attendants, and Volunteer Ushers, while also working some shifts each week as the House Manager. They will work with the Director of Marketing to establish new systems and policies for tracking and scheduling ushers, to be put into place for the 2017-2018 Season. They are a member of the marketing team and ensure that the front-of-house experience for all audience members is in keeping with the standards of the organization and creates a positive sense of connection between the patrons and the theatre. They will assist with the execution of marketing campaigns as it pertains to audience interaction or communication in the lobby – like seat tagging or potential merchandise sales for certain shows. They are also responsible for the safety policies regarding the audiences, and should stay up to date on regulations and requirements regarding ADA and safety. This position is part-time, hourly, with a flexible schedule and frequent work on nights and weekends required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

  • Create and coordinate house management, lobby attendant, and usher schedules for all Village Theatre Issaquah productions, including Mainstage, KIDSTAGE, Village Originals, and Pied Piper
  • Establish and communicate Usher procedures to volunteers and ensure that a high level of quality and attentiveness is maintained by all ushers
  • Coordinate and execute usher training sessions to ensure consistency and understanding
  • Be familiar with and search for improvements to policies that relate to performances and customer satisfaction
  • Provide a safe, secure, and enjoyable experience for customers, and handle issues that may preclude that. Report status of resolved issues and information on problems that need further attention
  • Develop consistent and efficient customer handling dialogue and procedures
  • Maintain good contact with Stage Manager and Box Office staff to coordinate timing and anticipate possible problems
  • Ensure that the lobby is up to date, including adjusting informational signage, checking that lobby display headshots are accurate, and appearances are acceptable
  • Coordinate with the marketing department on efforts to move marquee updates and maintenance into the responsibilities of lobby attendants who are over 18 years in age
  • Work with the house management staff to determine policies and resources for understudy performances
  • Ensure safety of the public in emergency situations; coordinate emergency procedures with Stage Manager
  • Maintain a safe, clean and attractive environment both inside and outside the theatre; facilitate Assistants and Lobby Attendants in maintaining same at both facilities
  • Recognize cleaning and maintenance needs and handle as required; report tasks that need further efforts Facilities Manager 
  • Complete Daily House Reports and Ticket Reports. Distribute as directed
  • Hire and supervise to Lobby Attendants.
  • Place orders for concessions stand and research best and most cost-effective options
  • Track concessions inventory

Education and/or Equivalent Experience Preferred:

  • College degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • 2+ years strong customer service management experience required
  • House Management or Front-of-House experience preferred

Physical Ability:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Comfort with heights and physical tasks, such as climbing ladders and hauling boxes.

Other Skills, Ability and/or Knowledge:

  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on professionalism and friendly interaction with audience members
  • Management history with a comfort in holding employees and volunteers to a high level of standard
  • Solid interpersonal, motivational, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Comfort with problem-solving and handling possible emergency situations
  • Passion for and understanding of theatre a must
  • Computer literate; knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with database systems preferred.

Master Carpenter

Village Theatre is accepting applications for Master Carpenter at the Everett Performing Arts Center

Qualified candidate will have:

  • Good leadership skills
  • 3+ years experience in professional theatre environment as Master Carpenter.
  • High production values.
  • Strong carpentry skills and basic automation skills.
  • Good communication skills and team based working strategies.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures in shop and on stage.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that safety procedures are being followed in the shop and during work calls on stage. Lead crews in shop and during load-in and strike on stage.
  • Assign tasks and projects.
  • Answer questions.
  • Ensure projects are being completed correctly and efficiently.
  • Work closely with Stage Operations Supervisor and Assistant Technical Director in dealing with:
  • Load in schedule
  • Progress updates
  • Materials on hand.
  • Construction methods and materials.
  • Coordinate with other departments concerning load in and strike issues.
  • Set the standard for the shop as it applies to Quality, Craftsmanship, pace and professionalism.

Audience Services Representative - Issaquah

Reports to Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager

Job Summary:
As part of the Issaquah Village Theatre Box Office, the Audience Services Representative must have good communication skills with a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality. Must be prompt, reliable, and detail oriented. The position is hourly with an average of 20 hours a week. Flexibility in work times is a must, including days, nights and weekends.


  • Handle large volume of in-bounds sales, exchanges and inquires with the highest level of courtesy and professionalism.
  • Sell new and renewing subscriptions, single tickets, gift certificates, and memberships.
  • Provide helpful information for performances, pricing options, parking, directions, local restaurants and seating for patrons with disabilities.
  • Assist with patron relations and resolve complex patron inquiries and complaints by phone.
  • Maintain familiarity with subscription and single ticket marketing initiatives, patron loyalty program, donor benefits, Village Theatre events and website.
  • Provides concierge services before performances and during intermissions to warmly greet and engage patrons and get them excited about our productions, as well as provide normal Box Office services.
  • Cover Box Office duties at First Stage performances, both for KIDSTAGE and Village Original productions.
  • Attend all Main Stage productions preferably during the Friends and Family preview or opening week.
  • Guide patrons though their online interactions.
  • Keep up a professional appearance in dress and attitude, and have a general appreciation for and understanding of live theatre.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Commitment to superior customer service with strong problem solving skills. Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be self motivated, detail oriented and able to juggle several tasks while answering phone calls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a small office
  • Ability to adjust priorities and assignments to meet patron and company needs
  • Comfortable and familiar with computers and most basic software, and capable of learning new ticketing and CRM systems quickly. Previous ticketing experience is helpful.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining a sense of humor
