Issaquah KIDSTAGE, Institute Manager

Position Overview:

The Village Theatre Institute Manager, through the philosophy of “Skills for Theatre…Skills for Life”, oversees, coordinates and helps assure the qualitative and budgetary success of the Village Theatre Institute and Pathway program (advanced school year theatre training for young people). Teaching according to particular skill area is also a requirement throughout the year depending on the needs of the program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, hires, promotes and executes the advanced level Institute and Pathway Programs.
  • Oversees and is an advocate for all Institute and Pathway students for production opportunities both internally and externally.
  • With oversight from Associate Director of Youth Education, recruits, evaluates, develops and trains teaching artists for Institute and Pathway programs to assure program quality and philosophic consistency.
  • Assures a quality curriculum and active learning environment that engages students and results in their skill development.
  • Develops strong, healthy relationships with staff, families and students.
  • Meets with students and families to develop learning goals and plans.
  • Supports, tracks, and evaluates Institute and Pathway students.
  • Coordinates auditions and placement of students with collaboration from the Associate Director of Youth Education.
  • Executes appropriate demonstrations and/or showcases for both programs.
  • Maintains and develops local connections and professional image in the industry on behalf of Village Theatre.
  • Supports Institute and Pathway students that participate in KIDSTAGE and Mainstage productions.
  • Teaches approximately 1-2 classes/camps per season according to areas of expertise.
  • Supports organizational efforts to raise money to support the program.
  • Supports summer programming.

In addition to the Institute specific duties, this position will provide support throughout the Youth Education department including occasional KIDSTAGE class support and on-site coverage as scheduled. The Institute manager will also encourage parents and families to participate in the full Village Theatre experience. Hours vary and are set to best support all KIDSTAGE activities and provide maximum face time with our customers. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings during the school year are required and periodic weekend work as well.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience Preferred:

  • B.A. in Theatre, Education or Arts Administration or higher

Physical Ability:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to lift 40LBS. required.

Other Skills, Ability and/or Knowledge:

  • Experienced arts educator/teaching artist (skilled educator in acting, singing, or dance)
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
  • Experience leading, training and managing teaching artists
  • Experienced theatre professional a plus
  • Experience in KIDSTAGE or a similar program helpful
  • Experience writing and executing arts education curriculum
  • Highly organized and enthusiastic
  • Knowledgeable about the educational benefits of the arts to young people
  • Knowledgeable about theatre college programs helpful
  • Musical Theatre background helpful
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, particularly as it relates to articulating feedback to students, their parents, and staff and in front of parents.
  • Collaborative and flexible by nature
  • Able to handle a flexible but demanding work schedule including frequent evening and some weekend hours
  • Skilled at MS Office products

Company Manager

Village Theatre, a non-profit professional regional theatre in Issaquah, WA is seeking a Company Manager.

This is a full time, year round salaried position with benefits after 90 days.

The Company Manager provides essential support in conjunction with the Production Manager coordinating and arranging all actor and stage management activities, contracting actors for each production, arranging all travel, transportation, and accommodations for actors, designers, guest artists and guest directors for all Village Theatre productions (Mainstage and Village Originals), coordinating production payroll, reporting, and information distribution.

The Company Manager serves as primary point of contact for, and provides assistance and problem resolution to actors and stage management. Serve as Primary shopper/buyer, shipper/receiver for the department and provide other administrative duties as required, such as preparing documents to onboard acting company members and reporting documents to Actors Equity.

Candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to both collaborate and work independently. A positive attitude, good work ethic and attention to detail are essential to this position.

All applicants need to be able to lift 40lbs, possess a valid driver’s license, be physically active and be familiar with the work processes of a professional theatre that produces and presents up to 20 projects per season.

Master Carpenter

Village Theatre is accepting applications for Master Carpenter at the Everett Performing Arts Center

Qualified candidate will have:

  • Good leadership skills
  • 3+ years experience in professional theatre environment as Master Carpenter.
  • High production values.
  • Strong carpentry skills and basic automation skills.

  • Ability to follow safety procedures in shop and on stage.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that safety procedures are being followed in the shop and during work calls on stage. Lead crews in shop and during load-in and strike on stage.
  • Assign tasks and projects.
  • Answer questions.
  • Ensure projects are being completed correctly and efficiently.
  • Work closely with Stage Operations Supervisor and Assistant Technical Director in dealing with:
  • Load in schedule
  • Progress updates
  • Materials on hand.
  • Construction methods and materials.
  • Coordinate with other departments concerning load in and strike issues.
  • Set the standard for the shop as it applies to Quality, Craftsmanship, pace and professionalism.

Audience Services Representative - Issaquah

Reports to Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager

Job Summary:
As part of the Issaquah Village Theatre Box Office, the Audience Services Representative must have good communication skills with a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality. Must be prompt, reliable, and detail oriented. The position is hourly with an average of 20 hours a week. Flexibility in work times is a must, including days, nights and weekends.


  • Handle large volume of in-bounds sales, exchanges and inquires with the highest level of courtesy and professionalism.
  • Sell new and renewing subscriptions, single tickets, gift certificates, and memberships.
  • Provide helpful information for performances, pricing options, parking, directions, local restaurants and seating for patrons with disabilities.
  • Assist with patron relations and resolve complex patron inquiries and complaints by phone.
  • Maintain familiarity with subscription and single ticket marketing initiatives, patron loyalty program, donor benefits, Village Theatre events and website.
  • Provides concierge services before performances and during intermissions to warmly greet and engage patrons and get them excited about our productions, as well as provide normal Box Office services.
  • Cover Box Office duties at First Stage performances, both for KIDSTAGE and Village Original productions.
  • Attend all Main Stage productions preferably during the Friends and Family preview or opening week.
  • Guide patrons though their online interactions.
  • Keep up a professional appearance in dress and attitude, and have a general appreciation for and understanding of live theatre.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Commitment to superior customer service with strong problem solving skills. Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be self motivated, detail oriented and able to juggle several tasks while answering phone calls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a small office
  • Ability to adjust priorities and assignments to meet patron and company needs
  • Comfortable and familiar with computers and most basic software, and capable of learning new ticketing and CRM systems quickly. Previous ticketing experience is helpful.

Sell tickets and provide accurate records of sales and deposits while maintaining a positive image of Village Theatre. Work as a team within the Box Office and within the entire organization to provide superior service for Village Theatre patrons and to support each department.


  • Provide excellent customer service and accurate information to all patrons and visitors in a friendly manner.
  • Handle customer complaints or refer them to appropriate personnel.
  • Understand and operate Theatre Manager ticketing software to sell tickets, make exchanges, and access and update customer information.
  • Take and process single and season ticket orders for all Village Theatre events, as well as rental events at the Everett Performing Arts Center, and record the desired marketing and mailing information.
  • Accurately handle purchases and redemptions of gift certificates.
  • Keep complete and accurate hard copies of season ticket information.

  • During subscription season, file subscription forms daily and ensure that all filed forms have been processed.
