and Capital Campaign Fundraising. Village Theatre, founded in 1979, is a leading producer of Musical Theatre in the Pacific Northwest. With an annual budget of $8.0 million, Village Theatre provides quality productions and educational opportunities in both Issaquah and Everett.
Position: Development/Fundraising Interns/Work Study (Issaquah or Everett)
Position Overview: This position will work directly with the Development staff to acquire realistic work experience with a major musical theatre company. Flexible hours.
Paid and unpaid internships available.
Benefits: Comp and 1/2 price tickets to Village Theatre productions.
Areas of responsibility:
- Gain an introductory understanding of Development/Fundraising for both the $1.5 million Annual Fund and the emerging $8.5 million Capital Campaign.
- Assist in corporate sponsorships, grant writing, special events donor research, donor prospect, and database management.
- Participate in departmental meetings including planning and brainstorming sessions.
- Provide additional departmental support as needed, plus ability to lift boxes and lift tables to help setup for events and meetings.
- Having reliable transportation is an asset in order to run departmental errands.
Qualifications:
- Education or experience in development, fundraising, or arts management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A minimum commitment of 12 weeks; flexible hours, preferably 20 hours+ per week
- Knowledge of Word & Excel; experience with databases is a plus!

Village Theatre KIDSTAGE Internships
Village Theatre KIDSTAGE seeks students 18 years of age and above (younger by permission) for internships in the classroom, in our professionally produced productions, and in our Summer Independent Production. Internships are available in Arts Education, Management, Direction, and Design. KIDSTAGE Internship programs support the development of outstanding theatre professionals by providing a structured program of training, coursework, and extensive progressive in-class and hands-on learning experiences. Designed to prepare students for careers in theatre arts, internships translate the KIDSTAGE philosophy of “Skills for Theatre … Skills for Life” into classroom technique, and rehearsal and production proficiencies.
Internship programs are available in Issaquah, and Everett Washington and include:
- A customized learning plan
- 20–40 hours per week of hands-on experiential learning
- Strong and consistent mentorship by a theatre professional
- A progressive learning experience that can potentially lead to paid positions
- Theatre skills applicable to career opportunities
- The promotion of positive values through art
- Some internships include a stipend to reimburse expenses depending on schedule or program
Arts Education Internships include: a minimum of 15 hours per week spent in the classroom assisting an experienced theatre arts educator.
KIDSTAGE Production Internships are available in:
- Direction
- Stage Management
- Production Management
- Design
and include a minimum of 15 hours per week spent in rehearsals and production meetings, assisting experienced theatre professionals. Available internships vary depending on production and location.
KIDSTAGE Summer Independent Production Internships are available in:
- Management (stage management, production management, and technical direction)
- Direction (direction, choreography, musical direction)
- Design (sets, lights, sound, costumes, and props)

The Summer Independent Production is the pinnacle of the KIDSTAGE program and is entirely directed, designed, and produced by young intern artists up to 20 years of age. Professional mentorship, provided by Village Theatre artists and staff, helps ensure that high artistic and educational standards are met. Typically, Independent Production students have advanced through progressive challenges in professionally guided Management, Direction, Design, Technical, and roles through previous T.A.P. (Teen Apprentice Program) experiences. Independent Production interns must successfully complete a rigorous application and interview process and receive steadfast support throughout the production experience from the education staff.
