Village Theatre is looking for a friendly, reliable, detail-oriented person to work in the Issaquah, Washington Box Office. Hours up to 20/week, hourly wage, DOE. Knowledge of computer ticketing software a plus (Theatre Manager, particularly). Weekend availability a must.

Position: Box Office Associate
Reports to: Issaquah Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager
General Responsibilities: Sell tickets and provide accurate records of sales and deposits while maintaining a positive image of Village Theatre. Work as a team within the Box Office and within the entire organization to provide superior service for Village Theatre patrons and to support each department.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Handle customer complaints or refer them to appropriate personnel.
- Understand and operate Theatre Manager software to sell tickets, make exchanges, and access & update customer information.
- Take single and season ticket orders for all events at the Frances J. Gaudette Theatre and First Stage Theatre, process the orders or pass them to the Manager, and record the desired marketing and mailing information.
- Handle Group Sales inquiries and purchases.
- Accurately handle purchases of ticket vouchers.
- Keep complete and accurate hard copies of season ticket information.
- Assist the Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager in the preparation and mailing of season tickets.
- During subscription season, file subscription forms daily and ensure that all filed forms have been processed.
- Count and balance deposited checks, cash, and credit cards at the close of each day.
- Take previous evening's deposit to the bank each morning as requested by Box Office Manager or Assistant Box Office Manager.
- Ensure that both Mainstage and First Stage floats have been counted and initialed as counted at the close of each business day.
- Keep the Box Office secure at all times and allow only authorized personnel in the Box Office.
- Keep House Manager updated on special patron needs (ie, wheelchairs), ticketing problems, number of seats sold each night, and what seats are available for late seating.
- Prepare House Manager Report immediately following the start of each performance.
- Keep track of Dessert and Parking benefits for donors for the week and make sure those benefits are provided.
- Perform other duties as required by Box Office Manager, Assistant Box Office Manager, or Director of Finance.

Position: Development/Fundraising Interns/Work Study (Issaquah or Everett)
Position Overview: This position will work directly with the Development staff to acquire realistic work experience with a major musical theatre company. Flexible hours.
Paid and unpaid internships available.
Benefits: Comp and 1/2 price tickets to Village Theatre productions.
Areas of responsibility:
- Gain an introductory understanding of Development/Fundraising for both the $1.5 million Annual Fund and the emerging $8.5 million Capital Campaign.
- Assist in corporate sponsorships, grant writing, special events donor research, donor prospect, and database management.
- Participate in departmental meetings including planning and brainstorming sessions.
- Provide additional departmental support as needed, plus ability to lift boxes and lift tables to help setup for events and meetings.
- Having reliable transportation is an asset in order to run departmental errands.
Qualifications:
- Education or experience in development, fundraising, or arts management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A minimum commitment of 12 weeks; flexible hours, preferably 20 hours+ per week
- Knowledge of Word & Excel; experience with databases is a plus!

Village Theatre seeks additional Costume Shop staff positions for its productions of Little Women, directed by Daniella Topol, and Tim Rice and Elton John's AIDA, directed by Steve Tomkins and Brian Yorkey.

Position: Cutter/Draper
Reports to: Costume Shop Manager
General description: General responsibilities include the draping, patterning, and alteration of costumes as designed by the Costume Designer and the supervision of a team. This is a full time position working under a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Theatrical Wardrobe Union #887.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Use the sketches provided by the Costume Designer to create the costumes;
- Demonstrate proficiency in draping, flat patternmaking, and the "sculptural" use of fabric;
- Create patterns for specific actors;
- Fit costume(s) to actor(s);
- Cut or supervise the cutting of all fabric for the costumes from the patterns;
- Determine yardage for fabric and trims;
- Correct patterns or alter costumes as necessary;
- Supervise stitching crew by preparing and delegating work;
- Manage time, including that of crew, in an effective manner;
- Research the period, style, and techniques necessary to complete the costumes within the Costume Designer's guidelines;
- Maintain the integrity of the Costume Design while utilizing cost and time effective measures in producing the costumes on schedule;
- Maintain the integrity of the Costume Design while utilizing modern techniques in producing a viable and functional costume for the actor.

Position: First Hand
Reports to: Costume Shop Manager
General description: General responsibilities include assisting the Cutter/Draper in the pattern creation and construction of specific costumes as designed by the Costume Designer. This is a full time temporary position working under a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Theatrical Wardrobe Union #887.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist Cutter/Draper in the creation of patterns;
- Cut fabric based on patterns supplied by Cutter;
- Make patterns for facings and linings based on original pattern supplied by Cutter;
- Grade pattern supplied by Cutter to other sizes as needed;
- Attend fittings to assist and take notes for Cutter and Costume Designer;
- Supervise Stitchers and advise on methodologies for made-to-order garments and fitting alterations;
- Prepare alterations from fittings for Stitchers;
- Stitch costumes as directed by Cutter;
- Perform other duties as assigned by Cutter and/or Costume Shop Manager.
Candidates must have an expert working knowledge of theatrical costume construction techniques, superior sewing and tailoring skills, ability to work well with a team, and grace under pressure.

General description: General responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of costume sketches under the supervision of a Cutter/Draper. This is a full time temporary position working under a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Theatrical Wardrobe Union #887.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Sew, either by machine or hand, the costumes assigned by the Cutter;
- Follow Cutter's directions when constructing a garment;
- Manage time effectively on each sewing project;
- Maintain personal work area, including sewing machinery as necessary;
- Communicate concerning problems and their possible solutions to Cutter and/or Costume Shop Manager.
Candidates must have a working knowledge of theatrical costume construction techniques, ability to work well with a team, and grace under pressure.

Position: Overhire
Reports to: Technical Director / Assistant Technical Director, Village Theatre at Everett Performing Arts Center
General description: Village Theatre seeks individuals interested in participating in the load in of The King and I and future productions at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Load in dates for this production are January 6 through 9, 2008.
Responsibilities include striking and transportation of the set from the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre in Issaquah on the evening of January 6, 2008, reassembly of the set January 7-8, 2008, and light focus on January 9, 2008. Additional load-ins for the 2007-2008 Season occur approximately every 8 weeks through June. All work will be under the supervision of the Technical Director or the Assistant Technical Director for Village Theatre.
Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of backstage theatre with a college education or equivalent professional experience. Experience with driving 24-foot box trucks would be a plus. The position is part-time on a per-show basis with a competitive hourly rate ($10-$14 DOE), with additional compensation for hours worked on New Year's Eve and Day.

This is a temporary position with 3–5 week, non-concurrent employment periods.
General description: The Overhire Props Artisan/Craftsman will build furniture, hand props, and dressing for Village Theatre productions as needed and specified by the Properties Master.

Prior technical theatre experience is required. Working knowledge of standard theatrical equipment (stage lighting, sound reinforcement, stage rigging and stage carpentry) is a must.

Village Theatre's Production Internship Program is designed to provide real life experience and hands on training to individuals who are interested in careers in the Theatre Arts.
There are a variety of internship opportunities either directly involved in productions or behind the scenes in our shops. Production interns at Village Theatre gain valuable work experience and knowledge in the Theatre industry. Flexible hours.

Costumes — Our highly skilled staff is comprised of artisans with many years of experience in draping, crafts, millinery, painting and dying or any combination of these. If it can be imagined, it can be made.
Props — Learn from skilled artisans about props construction, refinishing furniture, fine wood-working, metal crafts, graphics and upholstery for the stage. Bring reality to life with attention to details.
Scenic Painting — Skills in perspective, color, texture and faux finishes are just a few elements that are essential to creating a world of illusion for the stage. Jump in and discover the joy of being a scenic artist.
Stage Management — Serve as a member of the stage management team throughout the rehearsal process. Attend production meetings, organize schedules, communicate notes, and help to create a fun environment that supports the creative process.
