Assistant Box Office Manager (Issaquah)


Village Theatre is seeking an Assistant Box Office Manager for the Issaquah location. Obtain valuable experience in customer service and management while gaining insight into many facets of this successful non-profit organization such as development, marketing and finance.

Reports To: Issaquah Box Office Manager

General Responsibilities: The Assistant Box Office Manager/Issaquah is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Box Office at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre, and for coordinating all ticketing, subscription, and sales operations with the Issaquah office. Assistant Box Office Manager will sell tickets, deposit revenue into Issaquah accounts, and provide accurate records of sales and deposits, as well as supervising Issaquah’s small and enjoyable Box Office staff.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of Box Office staff.
  • Be a source of information and communication to Box Office staff.
  • Receive training on and supervise all operations of computerized ticketing system.
  • Keep up a professional appearance in dress and attitude.
  • Primarily responsible for closing procedures including making sure all cash, checks, and credit card information balance and that all errors from the day have been located and addressed before closing reports are received by Director of Finance.
  • Primary Village Originals & KIDSTAGE event coordinator
    • Communicate with production on specific needs for each show and adjust event information accordingly.
    • Act as Box Office point person on Village Originals for any membership-related communications or tasks.
  • Authorize and perform any necessary customer service activities outside normal policy when Box Office Manager is not present in order to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Assist Box Office Manager with subscription renewal process.
  • Ensure Box Office daily tasks are completed:
    • Will Call
    • Single tickets mailed
    • Donor Benefits are communicated and executed
    • Check that Mainstage and First Stage floats are in balance and up-to-date
  • Assist Box Office Manager with scheduling. Make all scheduling decisions in absence of Box Office Manager.
  • Assist Box Office Manager in other Box Office operations upon request.

Box Office Associate (Issaquah)


Village Theatre is looking for a friendly, reliable, detail-oriented person to work in the Issaquah Box Office for our 2010/20011 Season. Job is part time up to 20hrs/week. Weekend and evening availability a must.

Reports To: Issaquah Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager

General Responsibilities: Sell tickets and provide accurate records of sales and deposits while maintaining a positive image of Village Theatre. Work as a team within the Box Office and within the entire organization to provide superior service for Village Theatre patrons and to support each department.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service and accurate information to all customers and visitors in a friendly manner.
  • Handle customer complaints or refer them to appropriate personnel.
  • Understand and operate Theatre Manager software to sell tickets, make exchanges, and access & update customer information.
  • Take single and season ticket orders for all events at the Frances J. Gaudette Theatre and First Stage Theatre, process the orders and record the desired marketing and mailing information.
  • Handle Group Sales inquiries and purchases
  • Accurately handle purchases of ticket vouchers.
  • Keep complete and accurate hard copies of season ticket information.
  • Assist the Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager in the preparation and mailing of season tickets.
  • During subscription season, file subscription forms daily and ensure that all filed forms have been processed.
  • Count and balance deposited checks, cash and credit cards at the close of each day.
  • Ensure that both Mainstage and First Stage floats have been counted and initialed as counted at the close of each business day.
  • Keep the Box Office secure at all times and allow only authorized personnel in the Box Office.
  • Keep House Manager updated on special patron needs (i.e., wheelchairs), ticketing problems, number of seats sold each night, and what seats are available for late seating.
  • Prepare House Manager Report immediately following the start of each performance.
  • Perform other duties as required by Box Office Manager, Assistant Box Office Manager or Director of Finance.

Associate Director of Development


The Associate Director of Development reports to the Director of Development. The position requires a broadly experienced, highly creative, self-motivated leader who is able to effectively communicate the Village Theatre’s message, develop strategies that will continue to increase the resource base of Village Theatre, and build relationships with major gift donors and prospective donors with some planned gift activity.

The Associate Director of Development supervises the Special Events Manager (FT) and the Individual Giving Manager (PT).

The Associate Director of Development is a full-time permanent position that manages donor campaigns and individual giving initiatives, and meets annual fundraising goals. This position is responsible for management of a growing fundraising program focused on the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual donors and prospects with the capacity to make annual gifts of $5,000 and up. The position will also assist in the implementation and management of a new Planned Giving Program. . The position includes: participating in designing and implementing donor development strategies, conducting donor research, prospect visits, and developing and managing new donor cultivation events.

Qualifications:
A fundraising professional with confidence, self-motivation, effective communication skills, persuasive interpersonal skills and a good business sense will thrive at Village theatre.

  • Commitment to the vision/mission of Village Theatre
  • Experience in working with volunteers to develop major gifts, in face to face solicitations and proven track record of closing significant gifts ($5,000+)
  • Computer literate and familiar with development databases
  • Superior interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in writing, by phone or in person
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to solve problems, work independently, set priorities and take initiative
  • Function well in a team atmosphere

A candidate should have a minimum of 5 years fundraising experience, some of which will have been in successfully securing major and planned gifts.

Education:
  • A college degree is highly preferred.

Years of experience:
  • Minimum 5 years, with some flexibility, based upon experience.

Special technical skills/certifications:
  • A Certified Fund Raiser or similar designation would be viewed favorably.

Master Electrician - Issaquah


Village Theatre, a leading professional musical theatre company, has an opening for a Master Electrician in our Issaquah location. This is a seasonal, full time staff position represented by the collective bargaining agreement between IATSE Local #15 and Village Theatre and paid at the Master rate.

Responsibilities include supervising the implementation of all Village Theatre Mainstage lighting plots and lighting design execution at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre including hang, focus and tech. Master Electrician will also be responsible for running the console during the performances as well as maintaining the integrity of the design. Maintenance and upkeep of all electrics departmental inventory including cables, fixtures etc. will also be a part of day-to-day operations. Master Electrician will coordinate with Lighting Designer(s) and help to generate proper paperwork, hookups and schedules for the light plots for the productions.

  • 5-6 years professional theatre experience in electrics/lighting department.
  • High level supervisory experience and the ability to lead a crew.
  • Working knowledge of ETC Eos line of lighting consoles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain all lighting equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the abilities to work well under pressure, make decisions and represent the organization well.

Technical Director - Everett


Village Theatre seeks highly qualified Technical Director for immediate, full time position at the Everett Performing Arts Center.

Technical Director works with Production Manager and General Manager in day-to-day stage and performance related operations including daily stage schedules, budget management and reporting, stage maintenance and facility upkeep. Technical Director also manages all technical production elements for 5 Mainstage productions and various Kidstage & Pied Piper productions as well as rentals of the facility. Technical Director communicates with renters about their needs and provides support for events ensuring professional service and excellent relations with renting organizations.Oversees all production personnel including scheduling and managing IATSE stagehand labor for all events.

Position Requirements: Five years experience managing IATSE stagehands; Five years experience interpreting the production needs of artists and other users; Advanced practical knowledge of stage related activities such as carpentry, rigging, electrics, sound, props, costumes/wardrobe, stage design, touring, special effects, mechanization, drafting, structural engineering and theater design; Budgeting and control experience; Thorough familiarity with Excel and Word; Knowledge of CAD and Lightwright required; College degree or equivalent experience required. Reports to Village Theatre Production Manager and Everett General Manager.

For 21 years, Village Theatre's KIDSTAGE has provided Puget Sound students and their families a year round "home" for theatre arts activities. KIDSTAGE provides classes for students ages 4–20 in Issaquah and Everett. The KIDSTAGE Mission is to provide a personal development program for young people that uses theatre arts to teach creativity and responsibility; to encourage teamwork and personal integrity; and to foster self-esteem and appreciation for live theatre.


KIDSTAGE productions are directed and designed by theatre professionals, and performed by students. Village Theatre's technical staff supports directors and designers for KIDSTAGE productions.

KIDSTAGE Stage Managers work in a fun and professional environment. Experience working with kids and/or teenagers is strongly recommended.


Stage Manager General Responsibilities:

Responsible for day to day running of rehearsals, performances; communication of notes from Director to all production departments; responsible for maintaining professionalism amongst acting company; other duties as assigned by Production Manager.


Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain open lines of communication between Stage Manager and Production Team. The Stage Manager must inform the Production Manager immediately of any emergency concerning the company.
  • Supervise Assistant Stage Manager(s), delegate duties accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate promptbook of production.
  • Complete and distribute rehearsal/performance reports to production departments. Use existing Village Theatre templates for these reports.
  • Attend all Production Meetings.
  • Respect the property of Village Theatre by assisting in keeping all rehearsal areas, control booth, green room and stage areas clean and safe.
